To begin your calculations, sketch your site onto a piece of paper, and mark off areas into geographical shapes. Then, with a tape measure or wheel, measure the dimensions (length, width, diameter, etc.) of each shape, and record those on your sketch. Finally, add up the square feet needed for each shape to determine the total amount of sod needed for your site.
